Umm... You know - hard light actually creates a hard shell protecting it... In "Legion" Rimmer had to take the bee with his own hand, because Kryten just could not. Ace Rimmer in Red Dwarf (the later) got the bee damaged from radiation, I think... Or was it a holovirus?
