Future Weapons: Magpul Masada (Bushmaster ACR / Remington ACR)

Author: Sark00n
Description: The Masada was a prototype rifle designed by Magpul Industries in an effort to build an infantry weapon better than any of the existing platforms. To bring the Masada to market, Magpul teamed up with Bushmaster and Remington and they renamed it the Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR). The ACR is being sold as the Bushmaster ACR to law enforcement agencies and US civilians, and will be sold as the Remington ACR to military customers. The "Basic" version of the ACR began shipping in April 2010 with an MSRP of $2685. (Street value is currently $2100). The "Enhanced" version with railed handguard and folding stock is expected to be available in June at an MSRP of $3061. http://www.bushmaster.com/acr/ http://www.remingtonmilitary.com/acr.htm

wth??this weapon can fire 7.62 caliber?? amazing..

@annihilationnegitive comment2. comparing a 175 grain 2650 fps 3500 fpe full size rifle round to 77 grain 2750 fps 1400 fpe compact rifle caliber is just moronic...if thats your logic then the .308 should be compared to a .416 Barret...the .308 has three times the power of the 5.56...and the .416 has three times the power of the .308...see why that reasoning is flawed?

@alaskanhybrid the 7.62x51 was never a small...and your history is a bit off...the size differance between the .30-06 and .308 is minimal...with the .308 coming in at 2.75" and the .30-06 at 3.34...a total of half an inch...which makes no difference when it comes to total rounds you can carry other than on paper. the biggest allowance for more rounds being carried is case diameter...which both the .30-06 and .308 are nearly identical on...weight difference is also quite minimal

oh? is it hot?! ahha

sorry this is impressive but ak is sexy.

wow the rifle lets u go invisible

@annihilationnegitive I compare the two because they are used by NATO, and also the x51 was the U.S.'s first small cartridge designed for sustained full auto weapons such as the m-14 and the m-60, compared to the .30-06, which was far too powerful for such use, even though the BAR was used with it. Im aware that the .30-06 and 7.62x51 are ballistically similar, just you can carry more of the x51 which is at the end more important.

ACR

@alaskanhybrid Good answer. That's why everybody don't join together and launch a nuclear bomb at North Korea.

@alaskanhybrid its an easy mistake to make considering there are three predominant 7.62 caliber rounds...the 7.62x39, 7.62x51, and 7.62x54R...i would never compare a full size rifle round like the x51 or x54R to a intermediate rifle round such as the 5.56x45 or 7.62x39...their in a whole different class...the only intermediate round that comes close is the 6.5 grendel...which is actually more accurate and carries more power past 600 yards than either of the 7.62 full size rounds thanks to its BC

@ih8numberinusernames the black mesa incident was long ago. how do you know?

it looks really similar to the fn scar series

@lopiyo holy shit, when are they gonna release episode 3?! u made me remember that lol/

@Brown8181 Nuclear Bombs dont go well with surrounding countries of countries that were blown up by said nuke. Point is nukes are a biohazard, and dont look good for the country that launched it.

@annihilationnegitive Excuse me I thought you were talking about the 7.62x51 NATO round not the AK round my bad, yeah your right.

I can't understand why they create those new weapons. There's no sense since the creation of the nuclear bomb.

the verry end was so gay

1.10 WTF is gordon freeman? XD

when this rifle, the remington acr, is in 6.8 spc, can it use the 30 round barrett mag? and (i'm not talking about mw2) can you mount a grenade launcher on it? come on i desperately need to know!

@alaskanhybrid a 7.62x39 round has over 3x the ballistic drop of a 5.56 at 1000 yards...why? because the 7.62 is a slow, heavy bullet...which is what makes it good for the 300 yards and under conflicts you most commonly see...but as a result it has horrible drop. the 5.56 being a faster round will travel more distance before it losses its velocity, thus it remains more accurate at longer ranges, so hitting a target on a calm day at 1000 yards with a 5.56 is very possible, but highly ineffective

Two crucial Formulas in making a decent weapon. A decent gun itself and a Decent Round. If one of these two are not present or even both, it's not a very good weapon. For example , the AK-47. A good solid reliable rifle, with a hard hitting 7.62 round, most famous weapon in the world.

@alaskanhybrid 556 has much more velocity, of course it could reach that range, we just don't have the gun in the armed forces. its like a 50 cal sniper rifle, if the gun is shit, it will be shit regardless of the round

@seinfeld11123 yes but the 5.56 has tumble the 7.62 is also isent as accurate as the 5.56.

@seinfeld11123 Dude I dont see the 5.56 going 1200 yards like the 7.62 can... less rang my ass.

the 5.56 is too small, and not enough punch 7.62 is too large and less range, the 6.5 is a perfect round and should go into all USA rifles, more punch, same range, Do it
